Guidelines For Convening And Conducting Our Assembly Together
In an effort to try to remain compliant with Federal, State and Local guidelines, along with those of the CDC, the Independence Church of Christ offers the following guidelines in view of our coming together for worship beginning May 3rd, 2020.
  1. When arriving at the building please be aware of others that may be arriving at the same time.  Please strive to maintain at least 6 feet of distance between yourself and any other person.
  2. If you feel comfortable doing so, you may wear gloves and / or a mask.  This is an optional choice for each person.  Let your conscience be your guide in this matter.
  3. If you need to use our restroom facilities, after use please use the provided disinfectant to spray and wipe down the toilet seat.  Also, please wash your hands with the provided soap and dry your hands thoroughly.  While on the premises, if you need to cough or sneeze, please cover your mouth and nose with a facial tissue or handkerchief (if unavailable, please cough or sneeze into your arm sleeve).  Facial tissues are available in the foyer and auditorium.
  4. Bible Class and Worship will be conducted in the Auditorium in order to comply with safe social distance rulings.
  5. As you sit in the Auditorium, please sit on EVEN NUMBERED ROWS ONLY.  We ask this so that those serving communion can serve each individual separately, and more easily, by walking down the odd numbered rows.  Also, please sit at least 6 feet from the person nearest to you.
  6. The Lord’s Supper (Communion) will be served a little differently during this temporary period of safe distancing.  We are asking those who prepare our communion to do so with gloves on.  We are also asking them to place individual servings of the BREAD in communion cups for the time being.  Those who serve will walk down the odd numbered isles and serve each individual (there will be no passing of the trays down the isles).  We will make every effort to avoid personal contact between individuals during this celebration of our Savior’s death, burial and resurrection.  During the serving of the BREAD and the FRUIT OF THE VINE, please take a cup and partake – avoid touching other cups in the process, as much as is possible.
  7. Our Contribution will take place at the end of the service for the time being.  The individual designated to lead the closing prayer will also pray for the collection of donations for the Lord’s work, among other things.  As you leave the auditorium, we ask that you place your gift in the collection basket at the front of the auditorium on your way out.  Please maintain a proper distance from others who will also be leaving at this time.
  8. Above all, practice common sense health habits as we work through this difficult period in our nation.  Obviously, our ability to worship together, as in the past, has been affected.  But, at least we can now gather together to fellowship and praise our God for His many blessings.  Let us all come together in joy and thanksgiving – and in a safe manner – to renew our time together as a Christian family.
